Artist 15: Stephen Vitiello

So often I think the world works with the domino effect. Nam June Paik was trained as a classical pianist. However, while studying in Germany, he was inspired to work in the field of electronic art after meeting with the conceptual artists Joseph Beuys and Wolf Vostell. And then the domino effect came to Stephen Vitiello. Originally he was a punk guitarist. However, he was influenced by video artist Nam June Paik who he worked with after meeting in 1991. Now, Vitiello he himself becomes a visual and sound artist as well as an electronic musician. He is an Associate Professor of Kinetic Imaging at Virginia Commonwealth University. He lives and works in Richmond, Virginia.
